With POSBridge you can send a freely chosen amount to the SumUp terminal — e.g. just a deposit, part of the order, or when a group splits a bill. The amount must be less than the cart total in Shopify POS.

Typical use cases

  • Deposit: Customer pays 50% today — remainder on pickup
  • Split bill: Group splits the amount across multiple cards
  • Mixed payment: Part by card (SumUp), rest by cash
About 2–3 minutes
1

Fill the cart

Add all items to the Shopify POS cart as usual.
2

Open POSBridge tile

Tap the SumUp Payment tile in the Smart Grid. The default is Full amount (cart total).
3

Choose Partial amount

Choose Partial amount (not Full amount) and enter the amount — e.g. 9.50 on a €19.00 cart.
4

Send payment

Tap Send payment (not “Start payment”). The partial amount goes to the Solo. The customer chooses a tip on the terminal, not in a modal tab.
5

Record in Shopify

After a successful payment, return to Shopify POS. Complete checkout with the custom payment type (e.g. SumUp) — only the amount taken on the Solo. Take the rest in cash or leave it open.
The partial amount is automatically recorded in the Shopify order notes (posbridge_charged_mode: PARTIAL). This makes it always traceable in reconciliation how much was paid by card and what was paid by other means.
Important: The partial amount entered must be less than the current cart total. POSBridge does not allow an amount exceeding the cart total.
Yes. Open the POSBridge tile multiple times and enter the desired partial amount each time. Each card payment is a separate transaction. Close checkout in Shopify POS only after all payments are complete.
After the card payment via POSBridge close checkout in Shopify POS. Select Cash for the remaining amount. Shopify POS then records both payment methods on the order.
Yes. Every transaction — full or partial amount — appears in the app under Transactions and is matched to the Shopify order.
