# Pair Terminal (detailed)

> Complete guide to pairing a SumUp Solo terminal including troubleshooting.

<Warning>
  Supported devices: **SumUp Solo** (model: solo) and **SumUp Solo Printer** (model: virtual-solo). All other SumUp devices are NOT supported.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Step 1: Cloud API on the terminal">
    Power on the terminal → swipe down → **Connections** → **Cloud API** (sometimes **API**) → **Connect**.
    The terminal shows a pairing code.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step 2: Pair in POSBridge">
    Terminals page → **Pair new reader** → enter code → enter name → **Pair**. The terminal is immediately ready to use.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step 3: Assign location">
    Select terminal in the list → **Assign** → select Shopify location from dropdown → **Save**.
    Without location: no payment possible.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Step 4: Check status">
    Select terminal → click **Status**. Status is fetched from SumUp. Expected status after pairing: **ONLINE** (or IDLE if terminal is currently inactive).

### Terminal Status Explained

| Status | Meaning | What to do? |
| - | - | - |
| **ONLINE** | Terminal connected and ready for payments | Nothing — all OK |
| **IDLE** | Terminal connected, no active payment | Nothing — all OK |
| **OFFLINE** | Terminal not reachable | Solo and iPad both need internet. Restart the terminal if needed. |
| **UNKNOWN** | Status could not be fetched | Manually refresh status (Status button) |

    Make sure there are no leading or trailing spaces in the code. The code is case-insensitive. If the issue persists: restart terminal and re-enable API mode.

    Click **Sync** (top right on Terminals page) to load all terminals from SumUp. If terminal still does not appear: reload the page.
