# Process a Payment

> Charge a customer via Shopify POS with SumUp — complete flow.

*About 30–60 seconds*

<Steps>
  <Step title="Build order">
    Add products or a custom amount to the order in Shopify POS.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tap the POSBridge tile">
    First tap the **SumUp Payment** tile in the Smart Grid. The modal opens with the current cart total.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check amount and send payment">
    The amount comes from the cart. Tap **Send payment** (or wait for the Quick Mode countdown).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Terminal processes payment">
    The terminal shows the amount. The customer taps card, phone or watch on the Solo.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Then Shopify checkout">
    Green checkmark in the extension: switch back to Shopify POS and complete checkout **manually**. Choose the **custom payment type** with exactly the name from POSBridge → Settings → POS Extension → **Custom payment type name** (placeholder e.g. SumUP Card) and tap **Charge**. Only then is the order marked paid in Shopify.

<Tip>
  The SumUp payment is linked to the Shopify order via order attributes (posbridge\_payment\_id, posbridge\_sumup\_tx) — no manual matching needed. Shopify checkout stays manual: tile first, then the custom payment type from Settings.
