# Make Your First Payment

> Test the connection with a real payment through the terminal.

  Checklist before first payment: ✅ SumUp connected (log in → **Allow**) ✅ Terminal paired ✅ Terminal assigned to a location ✅ POS tile in the Smart Grid

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Shopify POS">
    Open the Shopify POS app on your iPad or iPhone. Make sure you are logged in at the correct location.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add product or amount">
    Add a product or tap *Custom amount* and enter e.g. **€1.00**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tap POSBridge tile">
    Tap the **SumUp Payment** tile in the Smart Grid. The modal opens.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send payment">
    The amount comes from the cart. Tap **Send payment** (not “Start payment”). The amount goes to the SumUp Solo.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Tap card">
    The terminal shows the amount and waits for the card. Hold a card or phone up to the terminal. Wait for confirmation.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Checkout with custom payment type">
    In Shopify POS choose the **custom payment type** (POS editor: **Sales channels** → **Point of Sale** → **Edit POS app** → **Checkout**). Only then is the order marked paid.

<Warning>
  **Important:** After the Solo payment, finish the Shopify sale with the **custom payment type**. POSBridge is not an embedded checkout payment method.

  The payment is linked to the Shopify order. In the app: menu **Transactions** — status **linked**. Not Settings → Reconciliation.
